Nagar Panchayat Handiaya District Barnala was established on 05-05-1993 vide Notification No. 10/67/93-2 L.G.3/4391 dated 05-05-1993. Population of the City Handiaya is 9725 according to the Census of 2001. The of the N.P. is divided in 11 Wards.
